ISLAMABAD (Daily Pakistan Online): Protests by government employees have taken a turn for the worse. Private TV has claimed, citing sources, that the 20 per cent increase in salaries under ad hoc relief should be from the basic basic salary of federal government employees in grades one to 22.  While the provinces will be asked in a letter to consider such an increase.

Private TV Express News quoted sources as saying that the signing of the agreement between the committee and government employees will take place at the residence of Federal Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, a key figure in the talks said.  The committee has discussed the issue. The employees' representatives are also ready to increase the salary by 20 per cent instead of 24 per cent, but it will be increased for all employees from one to 22 grades.  Yes, there are 22 institutions where employees have special and double salaries, there will be no increase for them while pensioners are not included in it.

The agreement between the committee and the employees will also be approved by the federal cabinet, the employees said, adding that the agreement will be finalized but the matter will end when the finance ministry issues a notification on the one hand and letters to the provincial governments on the other.  The negotiating committee will be asked to go with them to the provincial chief ministers as pressure from the federal government is needed to increase salaries.

Currently the situation is that in KPK and Punjab who have employees up to grade 21 and the salaries of those working in the secretariat are very high, the salary of a grade 21 employee is Rs 200,000 more than the federal secretary, PPP government in Sindh  They have raised their salaries twice, but they will also have to set a 20% increase.
